MY GOD IS ROMANTIC

He truly is a romantic God.  He constantly refers to his church as his bride and love.  He even included a whole book of romance in his holy word.  That book is called the song of solomon or canticles.  Just a couple of verses tell us of his love toward the church, and the church's longing for him.  He says "Behold, thou art fair; thou hast dove's eyes within thy locks: thy hand is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount gilead... thou art all fair, my love: there is no spot in thee".  And the church answers "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine... make haste, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or to a young hart upon the mountain of spices". (Song of Solomon 4:1, 4:7, 6:3, 8:14)

In the Bible we see many stories that involve romance. The search for a Bride for Isaac, Jacob toiling away for seven years for his bride Rachel, and many more biblical stories of romance. Romance is part of the Bible, look at the book of Ruth and the book of Esther. The courtship of Ruth by Boaz is a great romantic story in a pastoral setting. There is also a subtle romance in the book of Esther; we can see that the King had a love for Esther.

In the gospels Jesus refers to himself as the bridegroom, and even in the book of revelation; with all its terrible plagues and judgments, he still calls the church his bride. (Revelation 22:17)  As a suitor tries to win the love of his life with all kinds of entreats and showers her with gifts.  Even so our Lord has given many promises and gifts to his church.  He is not like the earthly suitors who promise much, but deliver little.  Our Lord is able to keep his promises of eternal bliss.

We the church are the bride of Christ, we are lovely, without spot or wrinkle in his eyes. Paul said it was a mystery. God loves us so much that he died for us, to redeem a glorious and beautiful church. The church in all its glory was the reason that Jesus came to live and die for us.

How many times have people heard that line from those fairy tales about living happily ever after. It will come true we will live eternally in fullness of joy, glory and romance. God does not need a book of how to keep the romance alive every day or the book of 1001 romantic things to do for your spouse.

Yes it will come true, in the tradition of Cinderella.  One day our Lord will come looking for his bride, and many will seek that position, but only she that can fit the shoe will be spirited away; and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (I Thessalonians 4:17)  We will truly live happily ever after.

Prayer Requests

Due to the amount of prayers requested, it is not possible for us to pray individually for every prayer request, and it would be dishonest to imply that we do. So instead we will add your prayer request to our list, which we will take before The Lord God Almighty.

Yes, I wish for you to include me in your prayer list
