Everybody has committed acts or said words that were later regretted.
The reason for this is that those actions or words were wrong, and sin will always engender guilt. It is because when we sin against our fellow men; we are also sinning against God (Genesis 39:9)
Humanity is extremely reluctant to ask God for forgiveness, but our conscience will hunt us till we either kill it or ask forgiveness from God who is the only one who can grant it. (Mark 2:7)
David committed adultery and then had the woman's husband murdered treacherously.  He tried to hide his sin, but it ate at him until he asked God for forgiveness, which he granted. (II Samuel 12:13)
A woman was taken in the very act of adultery and would have been stoned according to the law, but Jesus forgave her and sent her away justified. (John 8:11)
God has provided forgiveness for the sins of the world by the sacrifice of his son. The forgiveness of sins comes only through Jesus Christ. (Acts 13:38)
Christians sometimes fail and fall into sin, but if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
