A false balance is not good (Proverbs 20:23). I have seen many Christians that are unbalanced in their lives and doctrines.  My friends we have to strive to have a balanced life. By this I mean a life that has its proper place for the holy and the secular.  The holy (Church attendance, Prayer, Bible study, Meditation, Fellowship, Witnessing, Visitation). The secular (Job, Family life, Recreation, Bill paying, Household chores, and others)

We are being worldly when we relegate our Christian duties to Church days.  You are a Christian every day of your life. You have to pray every day and keep God in your mind.

You also have to work, play some games wit your children, and dedicate some time to your spouse. We are not being heavenly minded when we neglect our secular obligations. I am not trying to destroy anyone's spirituality, But to bring some people down to earth, because this is the place where we live.  To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Our doctrine can also be out of balance.  I believe and preach John 3:16, But the Bible has 31,175 other verses.  I do not go running around chasing demons, even though I believe in them.  I believe in miraculous healing, but I don't promise it to everyone.  The problem with some religious people is that they often become obsessed with a single particular doctrine. They need to realize that no matter how important a doctrine may be, we need to study and learn more than only that doctrine.

Emphasizing certain scriptures makes one an unbalanced Christian.  I think it is terrible when any Christian becomes obsessed with a particular doctrine. This obsession sometimes becomes the sole reason for entire denominations to exist. We need to preach all the doctrines of the Bible not just our favorites. Jesus said "every student of Scripture instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who brings out of his storeroom what is new and what is old."  You have to mix it up old things and new things.

I once heard of a minister who always preached about baptism. Finally after 6 months of sermons on baptism the congregation got tired of it, and they complained to the leaders of the denomination. The leaders came by and ask him why he taught about baptism so much, he was surprised and told them that he was just being methodical and was only teaching what each book of the Bible taught about baptism. Then they asked him, how far along are you? “Well”, he said, “I am just halfway through Genesis.”

Yes we need to teach some basic foundational doctrines in the church, like repentance and baptism but we also need to bring some advanced topics. We cannot be feeding milk to the congregation all the time, let them get some meat too. Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on to perfection. Not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (Hebrews 6:1-2)

Being a balanced Christian means a Christian who is balanced in his family life, his social life, his ministerial life, his doctrines and his own person. Even in the ministry itself, Jesus often took time to be alone with his disciples or even to be alone by himself. There was a lot of need but Jesus was not always ministering, sometimes he was resting with his disciples.

Prayer Requests

Due to the amount of prayers requested, it is not possible for us to pray individually for every prayer request, and it would be dishonest to imply that we do. So instead we will add your prayer request to our list, which we will take before The Lord God Almighty.

Yes, I wish for you to include me in your prayer list
