XXVIII. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION.

Brief Summary

The traditional text of Matthew was a commandment that;

My final thoughts: Dear Brethren as a believer and teacher of the word of God, I debated within myself and hesitated for a long time in promoting the message that Matthew 28:19 was an interpolation. My first fear was that I might be wrong, because I wasn’t fully convinced myself. The second fear was that I might be getting into a lot of trouble with Christendom; I was not desirous of putting a bull’s eye on our ministry and be attacked, for after all I was already attacked for teaching baptism in the name of Jesus. The third fear was that I did not want to put a stumbling block to some Christian brethren who were new or weak in the faith; for even those who have been Christians for many years have a hard time accepting this truth.

When I begun creating the The Holy Apostolic Bible (HAB), sometime in March 1999; I had chosen to give it the subtitle version 2000 or 2K for I was just going to do a quick revision and put some Apostolic notes in it, and put it in the Internet by the year 2000. However revising the first text took longer than expected so it was until early January 2001 that I posted the first early crude version of the (HAB) in our web page in the Internet. We had a very obscure webpage, with few visitors and because our Bible text did not look very professional, and in reality was a work in progress, we put it in some inside pages. I was not satisfied with my first version, so after that, many years were spent tinkering with the format and researching information for the endnotes and the Jesus Name Appendix.

Below is an image of the early initial files of the Holy Apostolic New Testament, where you can see the dates of some early modifications around May of 2000. We kept on updating these text files as we could, we used text files until the work was later on moved on to MS Word format, the Old Testament part is still not yet finished.

It took me over 10 years of study and research to finally accept that Matthew 28:19, like 1 John 5:7, was also an interpolation and should say “in my name”; perhaps that is a long time, but you must understand that I too was tied to tradition. The Non-traditional quotation was not easy for me to accept, even after we had published it in our digital Bible, I still struggled to fully accept it right up to 2010.

Once I became convinced that the change in our digital Bible was correct, I decided to publish it in book format, but the revisions took longer than expected. I did not want to publish the (HAB) in print, until I felt that it would look halfway decent, so it was until February 2013 that it was finally published. Of course right up to February 2013, just before I published it in book format, I still fretted for although by then I was completely convinced that it was an interpolation, I was still concerned that I might get in trouble with the majority of Christendom, so I almost decided to forget the whole thing and just publish it using the traditional text like everyone else did.

However by then I became convinced that I had an important message to give, and that I had to give it regardless of the consequences; so with only the New Testament finished; I decided to go ahead and publish it. The first run of The Holy Apostolic New Testament published in February 2013 had the following text, “This is the only Bible that uses the Eusebius quotation in Matthew 28:19. No other Bible has this restoration of the original text.” Of course later on we discovered we were not the first to use the Eusebius citation at Matthew 28:19. Our hope is that others will be inspired by this Holy Apostolic New Testament and that other versions will soon restore the original text in Matthew 28:19 and that the Trinitarian text would be put in the dustbin of history just like the other Trinitarian text that used to be in 1 John 5:7.

As to the new or weak brethren who might find the idea of a spurious text in the Bible a stumbling block or hard to accept, all I can say is that we walk by faith not by sight.  Just as the removal of the triune phrase in 1 John 5:7 by most Bible versions has not caused a massive exodus or rejection by the majority of the Christians of the Bible, then neither should the removal of the Trinitarian phrase from Matthew 28:19 be a cause for the wholesale rejection of the Bible by the majority of Christians. For the removal of these two interpolated Trinitarian phrases only makes the Bible more consistent with itself.

Regarding the attacks against our ministry, before I published this appendix I decided that I needed to speak the truth even if it might make me an unpopular fellow or even be thought of as a lunatic. No I am certainly not thrilled at being attacked by other Christians, but I suspected that it would happened, for I was attacking the main foundation and pillar of the trinity. I was not looking forward to it but I realize that being attacked for the truth is part of the territory of teaching the truth. Yes I know that the number of people who believe Matthew 28:19 is an interpolation is only a small minority but I do believe that like Copernicus we who believe this truth will eventually be proven to be correct.

In Conclusion

Our ministry has shown plenty of proof that the early text of Matthew and the early copies did not read “in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost”, but instead read “in my name”. The weight of the evidence is so tremendous that clearly the triune name is not a part of the original Matthew reading and should not remain in there anymore. That is why in The Holy Apostolic New Testament published by our Christian Apostolic Press department, the Eusebius & Annarikhus quote is used, and it is our hope that other future editions of the NT will follow this example. We are still continuing working to complete The Holy Apostolic Bible (HAB) Version 2000 as we have time and finances.

Let no one say or accuse this ministry of arriving at this conclusion lightly, for our ministry spent over 10 years researching and studying the issue of Matthew 28:19 before accepting the citation of Eusebius and Annarikhus as correct. If our small ministry has uncovered all the information in this book despite being financially strapped and only being able to research in our spare time; what would it be possible to find with a large budget and a team of full time dedicated professional researchers?

Ultimately what this is really about is faith and not evidence. Our faith is in Jesus and therefore we baptize in the name of Jesus. Today we have more arguments and archeological evidence for the veracity of the Bible than ever before, yet none of that is or will ever be enough for some godless atheists, they will simply refuse to believe. In the same manner it does not matter how much more evidence we find or how many more arguments we create, many Traditionalists will simply refuse to believe this truth. We could double or triple the amount of evidence against the traditional text (which we have done a few times) but no amount of evidence will ever be enough for some people for they have already made up their minds.

Many biblical scholars and sources agree with us that the traditional text of Matthew 28:19 is a changed scripture, an interpolation, a spurious verse, a modification, an alteration, a fabrication, a forgery, a hoax and a lie. I wish I could put it in nicer words, but you my dear Christian traditionalists friends have been conned, you have been deceived, you have been tricked, you have been taken for a ride, you have been hoodwinked, you have been cheated but take confort in the fact that you are not alone, you got plenty of company.

We do expect that one day archeology will find some very ancient text of the Hebrew or Greek Matthew with our reading, and then we will be fully vindicated in our decision.

Minister Ken Raggio writes: “The Roman Catholic Church STRIPPED Matthew 28:19 of the name of Jesus, and replaced it with the titles, thereby stripping water baptism of the only name given among men under heaven whereby we must be saved! That is WORSE than scandalous! It is supremely diabolical.” We fully support his denunciation.

Here is a comment by Grzegorz Kaszyński, who is without a doubt an expert on Matthew 28:19: (E-mail of 30 February 2015):

English: “If it looks, walks and quacks like a duck, then, absent compelling evidences to the contrary, we have warrant to conclude that it’s really a duck. Likewise, the phrase ‘in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost’ (KJV) has all the hallmarks of non-authenticity. This element completely does not fit at all the NT-‘puzzle’ and to the historical dates from the apostolic times. Since Matthew 28:19 contains a corrupt text, so we are standing in the face of an extraordinary situation. This means that translators of this Gospel should change their standard procedure of behavior; and on the basis of philological evaluation ought to make this conjectural emendation in this verse. I want to add that I’m not higher biblical critic and I have deep respect for the Holy Scriptures.”

Dr. Clinton Willis writes: “When the two primary texts given for the Trinity (1 John 5:7 & Matthew 28:19) are proven to be interpolations then we must face reality. Many today are realizing through study that there are spurious non-inspired texts or man-made creeds added to the Bible that we have today. To argue against these facts is to ignore reality and shows a lack of scholarship and integrity.”

Our ministry rejects with a 100% of certainty the view that Jesus ever said the phrase “in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost,” and we have given enough evidence to convince most reasonable people of our stand, of course there are people who will not be swayed by the evidence or any evidence. The type that says, “Do not show me any evidence my mind is already made up”

Of course we also expect that some people who have not read or researched our evidence to attack our New Testament because it promotes the name of Jesus in baptism, and the name of Jesus has always brought hatred and persecution. The men of God who have preached the name of Jesus have often been attacked and even killed by those who hate the truth and the name of Jesus.

The support for the traditional reading of Matthew 28:19 mainly comes from one source and that is the Roman Church, a church that is full of idolatry and is the source of all heresies and false doctrines. It rests upon a very shaky foundation built upon falsehood, deception, suffering and blood. So those who continue to support the traditional text of Matthew really have but one shaky fake leg to stand on.

It is a badge of honor: Some have attacked this message and have sought ways to discredit it. They even have resorted to attacking me by calling me a “heretic” a “cultist” and other names. They expected that their name calling would make me ashamed of baptism in the name of Jesus and stop me from preaching this message. But Jesus said “that if they have called him the master of the house, “Beelzebub” we could expect not better. Name calling or labeling is an old tactic; the Jews were forced to wear a yellow star at times, it was a way to shame them. If anyone expects that by calling me a name or putting a label upon me will stop me from preaching the name of Jesus in baptism, well they are mistaken. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, be happy (1 Peter 4:14) Being reproached and called a “heretic” or a “cultist” is a badge of honor and I am happy.

Message to my Apostolic brethren: Please open your eyes and see that the truth of this text is staring you in the face, snap out of that sleepy stupor induced by years of traditions. Look at Matthew 28:19 with fresh eyes and see that what I am telling you is the truth. Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? Please Remember that the Trinitarian verse 1 John 5:7 was also thought to be authentic by millions of people and for hundredths of years, but now no modern translation has it.

Acts 2:38 was there for centuries but most people failed to see the truth in it, and even after being shown it most still do not see it, so it is the same with Matthew 28:19. The evidence that this Trinitarian text is fabricated is there for people to see, but they have closed their spiritual eyes so that they cannot see. They only see and believe this text but somehow are not able to see and believe the many other texts that teach baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our early pioneers of the name of Jesus suffered great persecution and hostility because they preached the name of Jesus. They were going against hundredths of years of tradition, but they persevered and eventually were able to spread the message abroad. We too are early pioneers of the name of Jesus and for that we suffer persecution and hostility from people who do not want to accept the name of Jesus in the text of Matthew 28:19. Think hard about this, if the name of Jesus is in every single other Great Commission and in every single baptismal text in the New Testament, should it not also be here in this one too?

To those of our Apostolic brethren who would want to defend or retain the traditional text of Matthew 28:19, I would like to tell them in the most sincere and fervent tone that I can muster, that this text was fabricated by the Trinitarians and later inserted into the text of Matthew, it is not original, and it never was. It is a lie and that no lie belongs in the truth.

Will you side with those of us telling you the truth or will you remain with those who have told you so many lies before; those who do not even consider you Christian or saved for you are baptized in the holy name of Jesus. Those who still call you a heretical cult member because you wear the precious name of Jesus Christ in baptism.

I would like to remind our Apostolic brethren that it was them who persecuted, tortured and then killed our past apostolic brethren; and not content with that, they destroyed all their writings and then defamed them by saying a multitude of lies and calumnies about those they called “heretics”.

Our past brethren died by the thousands, nay probably millions, in opposition to Matthew 28:19, the ground where this text grew up from is soaked with the blood of our “heretic” or “cultist” brethren. To continue honoring such false fabrication by keeping it in the Gospel of Matthew is like stomping on the blood of our own martyrs.

I plead, beg and implore of our dear Apostolic brothers to forsake reading and using the false text of Matthew 28:19 and start using the ending that says “in my name” for this is the true and correct ending and it brings honor to the only name that can bring salvation, the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Accepting this false verse in our New Testament is like saying that Jesus lied the other two times in the gospels of Mark and Luke when he said to use his name or that they were false witnesses or ignorant writers who got the last words of Jesus wrong; it is like slapping on the faces of Peter, Paul and all the other early Christians and calling them disobedient or ignorant or even much worse “liars”. It is like denouncing the early church as a false “cultic” church that got baptism wrong on the first day of its birth.

Furthermore my brethren, to accept this spurious text in our Bible dishonors God; for it basically amounts to elevating the Trinity above the name of Jesus. It is accepting that the Trinitarians do have a basis for believing in the Trinity. It really means conceding that the Bible does indeed has a valid Trinitarian text.

The whole point of all these arguments and evidence presented in here is to convince people who really love the name of Jesus to know that “in my name” was what actually Jesus did say in the text of Matthew 28:19, that the Apostles did obey their Lord, and baptized correctly in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and that we too should be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Why be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ:

Because

01. Jesus commanded it saying in my name in the Great Commission. (Mark 16:15-17)

02. Jesus did command his name to be used. (Luke 24:47)

03. Peter baptized in the name of Jesus. (Acts 2:38)

04. Philip baptized in the name of Jesus. (Acts 8:16)

05. Cornelius was baptized in the name of Jesus. (Acts 10:48)

06. Paul baptized himself in the name of Jesus. (Acts 22:16)

07. Paul baptized in the name of Jesus. (Acts 19:5)

08. We who were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death (Rom 6:3)

09. We who have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Gal 3:27)

10. We are buried with him in baptism. (Colossians 2:12)

11. We are washed, [baptized]…in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Co 6:11)

12. We are to do all things (including baptism) in the name of Jesus. (Col 3:17)

13. For there is salvation in no other name. (Acts 4:12)

14. The name of Jesus is higher than the angels. (Hebrews 1:4)

15. Jesus is the name above all names. (Philippians 2:9)

16. In his name are we gentiles to trust (Matthew 12:21)

17. All power is in Jesus name. (Matthew 28:18)

18. It makes you a part of a special group. (1 Peter 2:9)

19. The demons submit to his name. (Luke 10:17)

20. Healing is done in his name. (Acts 3:16)

21. We are to be persecuted, and hated for his name. (Matthew 24:9)

22. He came in his father’s name. (John 5:43)

23. Jesus died to save us from our sins. (Matthew 1:21)

24. We are to keep what the Apostles say. (John 15:20) {And they did say to baptize in Jesus’ name}

25. His name is Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6)
